A 2-year moratorium is imposed on environmental approval for quarries

The Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, said that he has taken the decision to impose a moratorium on new quarries and those in the procedure for environmental approval for a period of two years.

According to him, it is about the period June 2021 to June 2023.

“Part of this decision is the establishment of a ministerial working group, which will review the legality of quarrying activities, their impact on the environment, as well as measures to be taken for their rehabilitation,” he wrote.

With this decision, the new quarrymen and those in the procedure will not be able to apply for the exercise of their activities for two years.
