Renewable energy generation in Kosovo

The works are continuing with increased intensity in the village of Bajgora in Mitrovica. Yesterday, in Bajgora, the first turbine was installed in the 105-megawatt project of the wind energy park.
The first turbine that will be used for the project of the Kosovo-German-Israeli company ‘SOWI Kosovo’ for the construction of a 105-megawatt wind energy park in Bajgora, Mitrovica, financed by the EBRD, is already in position.

The installed turbine is the first of a total of 27 General Electric turbines to be installed under the project.

This project will contribute to mitigating climate impacts, increasing the share of renewable energy generation in Kosovo and adding 105 MW of wind energy generation capacity to the national energy system.

The project will also significantly increase the share of electricity generated by wind energy in Kosovo, which is otherwise largely dependent on coal-fired power generation.

Electricity generation is expected to start at the end of August 2021.
